A gifted singer from a young age, Gus K. followed his dreams from Newark, New Jersey to the big stages of Broadway. After attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and taking private voice lessons, Gus gave himself over to the grind, waiting tables and relentlessly auditioning. He finally landed his big break—a part in an off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks—and his dreams were so close he could hear them calling his name.

But just like a second act narrative arc, after 10 years of close calls and seeing over 100 Broadway plays, Gus traded his love for performance for the love of his life. Together they built a beautiful life in New Jersey while Gus worked as a salesman and store manager, and were together for 20 happy years. He lost her too early, but Gus kept putting one foot in front of the other, and has found joy in his later years.

At Bella Terra, he likes to stay active—laughing with family and friends, playing cards with the guys, going on group outings, enjoying happy hour conversations, reading every day, playing pickle ball and walking the property.

“This place keeps me pretty busy,” said Gus. “I love it.”
